For over 60 years I have called Juneau my home and I have a lifetime of experience on the waters of Southeast Alaska. I have spent the majority of my life being on and around boats; recreational, commercial fishing, & charter.
After a career in commercial fishing, I went to work for the State of Alaska thenn the District Council of Laborers while I raised my family. During this time, my beautiful wife and I taught our kids and grandkids the skills necessary to be safe and successful on the water.
After I retired from the State of Alaska and from my position as Business Agent with the District Council of Laborers, I spent many years as Captain of charter vessels and Engineer on many types of vessels. I managed crews, maintained the vessels, wrote vessel safety plans/procedures, condcuted safety drills, and ensured the safe daily operation of the vessels.
I have extensive experience rebuilding & restoring classic wooden boats. I have rebuilt and restored 44' double ender commercial fishing vessel, a 47' seiner, 2 classic yachts, and my current project is a 110' World War II tug boat. I had to rebuild hulls, houses, mechanical, and electrical systems on all of these vessels
Now, I own and operate Tagish Marine Consulting and Surveying where I conduct boat surveys, Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety Examinations, and offer my consulting services for needed repairs, renovations, and will even oversee the work being done by boat yard or contracter.
